(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Athletics received several honors at the 78th Annual San Diego Sports Association Salute to the Champions.

PLNU Women's Basketball alumna
Tavia Rowell was named an Amateur Star of the Year, while she was among eight Sea Lions to be recognized as Amateur Stars of the Month.

 Rowell was instrumental in leading Point Loma to its first women's basketball PacWest regular season and tournament championships in program history.

The All-PacWest shooting guard led the team in scoring (13.4 points per game) while shooting 42.4% from 3-point range, as the Sea Lions made back-to-back NCAA West Regional appearances for the first time and set an NCAA-era program record for wins (25).

Rowell's award marks the third consecutive year that a Point Loma student-athlete has received the top amateur honor from the San Diego Sports Association, joining women's soccer midfielder Nikki Ross (2024) and baseball shortstop Scott Anderson (2025).

The Sea Lions to be named Stars of the Month in 2025 were Rowell,
Eiley Tippins (women's basketball), Zackry Paulsen (men's basketball), Priya Torres (women's soccer), Cole Friesen (men's soccer), James Nobles (men's basketball), Kylie Garcia (women's soccer) and Noah Meffert (baseball).
