3/4/2026 5:38:00 PM

(SAN DIEGO) Sophomore forward Andrew Nagy took home two PacWest annual awards for the conference champion PLNU Men's Basketball team, as announced by the PacWest on Wednesday.

Nagy was named both the PacWest Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, and he is joined on the All-PacWest Team by three fellow Sea Lions.

Junior guard Jaden Matingou was also selected to the First Team, while junior guards Andrew Hommes and Tyce Paulsen were both voted to the Third Team.

Point Loma's four All-PacWest honorees are the most of any conference school.

Nagy is the second PLNU player to be named Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in the same season, joining Daulton Hommes (2018-19).

The Long Beach State transfer leads the team in scoring (15.4 points per game) and rebounding (5.9 per game), while leading the PacWest with a .634 shooting %. He scored in double figures in 18 out of 20 conference games he played in, including 17 straight.

Matingou is second on the team with 12.2 ppg and leads the conference with 4.0 assists per game, while also averaging 4.2 rebounds per game. He finished the regular season with back-to-back 20-plus point outings.

Hommes, Point Loma's top defensive player, is averaging 11.9 ppg while ranking fifth in the PacWest in both blocks (42, 1.5 per game) and free throw % (.828).

Paulsen is fourth in the conference in 3-point % (.392) and seventh in 3-pointers made per game (2.1), while scoring 10.6 ppg and posting a team-high 37 steals. The 2023-24 PacWest Freshman of the Year earns Third Team recognition for the second-straight season.

Point Loma (23-5 overall, 18-4 PacWest) is the No. 1 seed in this week's PacWest Championships and earns a first-round bye straight to Friday's semifinals, with PLNU playing against either No. 4 seed Hawai'i Pacific or No. 5 seed Vanguard.

Tip-off in Golden Gym on Friday is scheduled for 2:45 p.m.
