(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Baseball ace Derek Silva added another award to his resume after a stellar 2026 season, being named to the ABCA West Region All-Defensive Team.
 
Silva posted a perfect 1.000 fielding % this year, with 10 putouts and 13 assists on 23 chances.
 
The right hander fielded his position well while base runners had little success stealing on Silva either, stealing successfully on only two out of seven attempts.
 
As a pitcher, Silva hurled 95.2 innings while accumulating a 3.67 ERA and striking out 103 batters. His 103 strikeouts rank seventh in a single season in program history.

Silva earned All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and was a First Team All-West Region selection from the NCBWA, ABCA and Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association.
 
He also became the program's fifth ever PacWest Pitcher of the Year.
 
Silva helped Point Loma (50-13 overall) to its second 50-win season in program history and its third West Region championship in five seasons.
 
It marks the fourth straight season that PLNU has had a regional All-Defensive Team selection.
