PLNU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS TO FRONTCOURT WITH DYKSTRA, HURD

6/4/2026 11:12:00 AM

(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball has announced the signings of post players Louise Dykstra and Kamiyah Hurd ahead of the 2026-27 season.

"We could not be more excited to welcome Louise and Kamiyah to our program," Head Coach Charity Elliott said. "We knew we needed to add firepower in the post position, and we believe we have done just that.

"They both give us size, strength and experience, and are hungry to compete and win. Most importantly, they are both great human beings and are excited to join the Sea Lions family."

Dykstra is a 6-foot-2 junior forward from NCAA Division I Northern Colorado, where she played in 14 games over the past two seasons. The Vancouver, Canada native was a perfect 1.000% shooting from the field last season, during which she scored a single-game career high of eight points against Chadron State.

"Louise is a highly motivated and hard-working post player who is going to provide the depth and firepower we need in the post position," Elliott said. "She really impressed me with her work ethic and desire to be great, which makes her a great fit in our program.

"I love her athleticism, ability to guard all positions and her speed up-and-down the floor. We can't wait to get her to The Point and get her in the gym."

Hurd is a 5-foot-10 senior forward from Southwest Baptist, where she was named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Newcomer Team last season after averaging 10.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Chandler, Arizona native, who previously played at Mesa CC, also earned the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.

"We have been recruiting Kamiyah for a couple of years and are finally able to welcome her to PLNU," Elliott said. "She is the epitome of a student-athlete and we could not be more excited to add Kamiyah to the mix.

"She's powerful, a great rebounder, can stretch the floor and is a tough competitor. She's primed and ready to make a huge impact on the court. Additionally, she's going to be a great addition in the locker room as another 'team-first' player."

Point Loma is coming off a third straight NCAA West Regional appearance for the first time in program history.
