Cori Deason, a senior forward from San Diego (West Hills HS), recorded three points in the season opener, including scoring the game-winning goal in the 81st minute against Cal Poly Pomona. She took a long pass from Madelon Denbaugh and put a shot on goal that was blocked, but she put home the rebound for the season-opening victory for the Sea Lions. She also assisted on the equalizing goal to Easton Kawawaki in the 49th minute. Deason then helped the Sea Lions earn a shutout tie on the road as PLNU opened the season on the road by going 1-0-1.
