SAN DIEGO – The Sea Lions lost to visiting Westmont 3-1 Saturday afternoon at PLNU Field. The Warriors controlled the day's action and scored a pair of second-half goals en route to claiming the Golden State Athletic Conference contest.

A defensive game from start to finish, Westmont outshot the Sea Lions 11-3 on the day, including 6-1 shots on goal. The first score of the day came in just the 6th minute of action. Nana Akyen sent in a corner kick that was headed in by Doug Harrell.

The Warriors remained up 1-0 throughout the first half and until PLNU midfielder Griffin Fuller got past the WC defense and slotted a pass to Tyler Hall in front of the box at the 53 minute mark. Hall then pushed the ball into the net to even the score.

Harrell broke the deadlock with a goal in the 63rd minute. Gustavo Hernandez was in on the assist; lobbing a free kick to Harrell from 30 yards out.

Westmont iced the match with a late score from Akyen. The midfielder stole a ball and charged down half the length of the pitch before taking a point-blank shot.

The loss dropped PLNU to 5-8 overall, 2-5 GSAC while the Warriors improved to 7-3-3, 2-3-1 in conference.

Point Loma hosts Vanguard Wednesday at 4 pm in the final regular-season home match of the year. Wednesday will also mark senior day for four Sea Lions.
