Planeta and Ector Named to All-GSAC Team

3/2 - PLNU seniors Liah Ector and Colleen Planeta were announced as members of the All-GSAC team on Tuesday. The two have helped lead PLNU remain in the NAIA's top 10 all year and finish 17-3 in the GSAC. It was the third time Planeta has received All-GSAC honors and the second selection for Ector.

Planeta averaged 21.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game in 19 conference games. She led the league with 63 blocked shots, 23 more than the first player behind her, and was among the league leaders in scoring, rebounder and field-goal percentage. She was the second-leading scorer in GSAC games, being narrowly edged out by APU's Alex Moore-Porter.

Ector did it all for the Sea Lions this year, filling up stat sheets like few others. She averaged 13.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game in GSAC play, finishing among the GSAC leaders in each of those categories, including second in rebounds. What numbers don't show is that she's been one of the best defensive players ever to wear a PLNU uniform, giving opposing players fits all season.

Planeta was edged out for conference player of the year by Vanguard's Bridgette Reyes, who averaged 21.2 points per game in GSAC play. Vanguard coach Russ Davis earned coach of the year honors.

For all their accomplishments on the court, Planeta and Ector have also been instrumental to the program as leaders. Their exemplary character off the court and contributions to the athletic program as a whole have been invaluable to the PLNU community.
