Planeta and Ector Earn All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY , Mo. (3/23) -  The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2009-10 Division I Women's Basketball All-America Teams on Tuesday. The selections are made by the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America Committee and comprises a First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Team. There are 10 members on each of the first three All-America teams.

Two PLNU seniors, Colleen Planeta and Liah Ector, were tabbed as NAIA All-Americans. Planeta was a first-team pick while Ector earned third-team status.

Planeta was named a first-team All-American for the third consecutive season. She led the nation in scoring average (22.9) and in total points (686). The 6-2 forward was among the leaders in blocks (114) and rebounds (232). Over the course of her four-year career Planeta scored 2,014 points, had 902 rebounds , blocked 433 shots and dished out 316 assists.

Ector, who was an honorable mention All-American pick last season, did it all for the Sea Lions this year. She averaged 13.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She was almost always given the assignment of guarding the opposing team's best player.  Ector also notched some milestones in her four years at PLNU, scoring 1,025 points, with 722 rebounds, 316 assists and 235 steals.
