SAN DIEGO – NAIA sixth-ranked Point Loma Nazarene won their eighth consecutive match on Saturday, defeating  visiting The Master's College Mustangs 8-1. It was the final home match of the year for the Sea Lions.

Loma's record now stands at 16-5 overall and 12-3 in the GSAC (third place), while the Master's falls to 3-15 overall and 3-12 in the conference.

The Sea Lions kicked off the match by sweeping up all three doubles points. PLNU's Maika Adair and Katyln Abayan were paired on court one and they beat Maggie Becker and Karli Foerstel 8-2. No. 2 team Kiersten Steinhauer and Samantha Mohr took out Tiffany Man and Taylor Forstall 8-1 and Green and Gold teammates Michaela Johnson and Preethika Venugopal defeated Jennifer Keith and Abigail Zaretsky by the same score on court three.
 
Five singles points went to the Green and Gold. From the top of the ladder down: Adair overcame Becker in two 6-2 sets; Steinhauer won out over Foerstel 6-3, 6-2; Venugopal beat Man 6-0, 6-0; Abayan topped Forstall 6-1, 6-1 and Mohr cruised past Keith 6-0, 6-0. The Master's got their lone point from court six where Johnson of PLNU was defeated by Zaretsky 6-2, 6-3.
 
Next PLNU will be traveling on Wednesday to take on No. 5 nationally ranked Azusa Pacific in the final GSAC match up ever for the Sea Lions and Cougars, Both teams are headed to the NCAA DII and the PacWest Conference next year. Games are set to begin at 1:15 pm.
