SAN DIEGO -- Natalija Waldhuber tallied 4222 points during two days of competition at the Claremont Classic Decathlon/Heptathlon Thursday and Friday. Those 4222 points tentatively earned Waldhuber a ticket to the NAIA National Track & Field Championships in Marion, Ind. Unless another athlete posts more points this weekend somewhere, Waldhuber will join Lindsay Honea as Sea Lions competing in the heptathlon at the national meet.
A few more PLNU athletes - the men's 4x400 meter relay team and Dominique Picker in the 400 meter -- attempted to earn a spot alongside other Sea Lion qualifiers at nationals when they participated at the CSU Los Angeles Last Chance Meet on Saturday. Neither reached the "A" standard'; however, meaning that the Sea Lions will bring either five or six athletes to Marion.
Other Green and Gold athletes took part in events this past weekend, but it was more of a tune-up for the national championships.
