SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma men's soccer team picked up another point in the Pacific West Conference standings as it battled BYU-Hawaii to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
The point brings PLNU's total to eight in the PacWest Conference play, where it remains undefeated at 2-0-2. The Sea Lions sit in fourth place in the conference standings and are 4-3-2 overall. These were the first points for BYUH in conference. The Seasiders now stand at 2-3-2 on the season and 0-2-1 in PacWest play.
The Sea Lions had a number of chances to win the match, particularly in the second period, but were never able to convert the ball into the net. They finished the contest outshooting the Seasiders 20-12, including 7-4 in shots on goal.
Carter Phillips made four saves for Point Loma to record his fourth shutout of the season. Chris Pineda had seven stops for BYUH.
"I was disappointed with the result," said PLNU head coach
Phil Wolf. "The guys were going for full points and I thought they deserved better. But at least we got the tie."
The Sea Lions will continue its five-match homestand on Thursday, Oct. 3 against Chaminade starting at 3:30 p.m.
