WHAT'S HAPPENING:
Pacific West Conference play will open this week at Carroll B. Land Stadium when Hawaii Hilo visits Point Loma for a four-game series starting Friday, Feb. 15 at 11:00 a.m. The teams will close out their four-game set with another doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 11:00 a.m.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
The Point Loma baseball team is 1-5 on the young season. PLNU lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night in extra innings at No. 21 UC San Diego. The Sea Lions led 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth inning before UCSD rallied for two runs to tie the game and then won it in the 11th on a throwing error by PLNU.
Mark Marcoux leads PLNU in hitting with a .450 batting average and nine hits.
Zach Allen paces the club with a .481 on-base percentage. He has hit safely in each of his last four games, while recording seven hits over that span. He also leads the team with four walks.
Bryan Burkhead leads the team with four extra base hits, 13 total bases and a .542 slugging percentage.
Tyler Garkow has earned the Sea Lions' only win of the season. He is 1-0 on the year and leads PLNU with nine strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA.
Josh Dexheimer has made two appearances, stretching 2.2 innings out of the bullpen, and has allowed only one hit and no runs while striking out four.
A LOOK AT HAWAII HILO:
The Vulcans are 1-3 on the season after opening the year with a four-game series at home against Augustana. Keenan Nishioka is batting .583 with seven hits on the season to lead UHH. Zachary Hamasaki paces the squad with two extra base hits and four runs scored. Seamus Yoneshige has the only win of the season for Hawaii Hilo. He went five innings allowing just one hit and an unearned run while striking out 10 to pick up the victory.

The homestand for PLNU will continue next Wednesday (Feb. 20) when it welcomes Bethesda University for a non-conference single, nine-inning game starting at 2:00 p.m.
