WHAT'S HAPPENING:
The Point Loma men's basketball team will travel to Hawaii to take on four Pacific West Conference opponents over an eight-day span. The trip will open at Hawaii Pacific on Saturday (Feb. 9) at 7:00 p.m. (PST). The Sea Lions will then travel to BYU-Hawaii on Monday and Chaminade on Wednesday for 9:30 p.m. tipoffs (PST). PLNU will close out the trip against Hawaii Hilo on Saturday (Feb. 16) at 4:30 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
In its last game, the Point Loma men's basketball team earned its first-ever win in the PacWest Conference with a 57-56 win over Notre Dame de Namur.
AJ Ussery's driving layup with 13 seconds left proved to be the difference as PLNU fought back from a 13-point second half deficit.
Sam Okhotin came off the bench to pace Point Loma with 19 points. Ussery added a season-high 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting. PLNU is now 4-15 on the season and 1-10 in the PacWest.
Point Loma continues to lead the conference in scoring defense with 59.2 points per game. PLNU ranks fourth in the PacWest in field goal defense (.415) and third in 3-point percentage defense (.317). The Sea Lions' 7.2 steals per game also rank them fourth in the league.
Todd Campbell leads the Sea Lions with 7.7 points per game. He is also averaging 2.0 assists and 5.1 rebounds to go along with his 7.7 ppg.
AJ Ussery ranks 11th in the conference with 6.3 rpg and fifth with 1.3 blocks. Ussery also leads PLNU with 2.5 assists.
Oivind Lundestad is the Sea Lions' top threat from the outside with 25 treys on the season. He is hitting .368 percent of his shots from behind the arc.
A LOOK AT HAWAII PACIFIC:
The Sea Warriors are 7-11 on the season and in 10th place in the PacWest with a 4-7 record after losing four of their last five games. Malte Ziegenhagen leads HPU and ranks eighth in the PacWest with 14.9 ppg. He is also 13th in the conference in free throw percentage (.789) and sixth in 3-point percentage (.466). Marko Cukic is also averaging double-figures with 11.6 ppg while shooting .534 percent from the field. As a team, HPU averages 72.0 ppg. The Sea Warriors ranked fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.482) and second in 3-point percentage (.423).
A LOOK AT BYU-HAWAII:
The Seasiders are 10-9 on the season and in fourth place in the PacWest with a 7-4 record. They recently snapped a three-game skid with a one-point win over Hawaii Pacific in overtime (87-86). DeAndre Medlock leads three student-athletes in double-figures for BYU-Hawaii with 16.5 ppg. Okesene Ale (14.2) and Bracken Funk (10.2) are also scoring over 10 points per game. As a team, the Seasiders rank second in the conference with 84.5 ppg and third in field goal percentage (.489).
A LOOK AT CHAMINADE:
The Silverswords hold the second seed in the race for the PacWest tournament with a 9-3 record (12-8 overall). They have won five straight games, and nine of their last 10. As a team, Chaminade is ranked third in the league in scoring (81.1) and first in free throw percentage (.740). De'Andre Haskins is second in the PacWest with 18.4 ppg, and Bennie Murray is fourth with 17.6 ppg. Haskins is also fifth in rebounding (7.3) and third in free throw percentage (.838).
A LOOK AT HAWAII HILO:
The Vulcans are 5-15 on the year and 3-9 in the PacWest. They have lost two straight games and five of their last seven. CJ Brown leads UHH in scoring with 13.0 ppg. Kiel Myers (12.4) and Michael Melonas (11.4) are also averaging double-figures for the Vulcans. Melonas ranks seventh in the PacWest with 7.2 rebounds. As a team, Hawaii Hilo averages 72.7 ppg to rank eighth in the PacWest.
