A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Last week, the PLNU baseball team split a four-game series at home against PacWest rival, Hawaii Pacific. PLNU put up nine runs in each of the first two games to win both games of the doubleheader. HPU then bounced back to sweep Saturday's doubleheader and earn a series split. PLNU is now 14-17 on the season, and remaining in fifth place in the PacWest standings with an 11-9 record.

Tyler Nordgren has continued his torrid pace since taking over the starting job at third base. Last weekend, he went 6-for-13 with two doubles, four runs scored and three RBI to raise his batting average 23 points to a team-leading .413. He is also pacing the Sea Lions with a .509 on-base percentage. Mike Marcoux (.326), Trey Hunt (.309) and Zach Allen (.305) are all hitting over .300 for the Sea Lions. Zach Allen leads the squad and is tied atop the PacWest with 12 stolen bases. He is also the team-leader with 21 runs batted in and six sacrifices. Clinton Harwick leads PLNU with 17 runs scored, and Bryan Burkhead paces the team with 42 total bases. As a team, PLNU leads the PacWest with 51 stolen bases, and is second with a.972 fielding percentage.

Senior pitcher Tyler Garkow leads the PacWest in innings pitched (63.0), games started (nine) and complete games (three). Justin Lawrence is second in the PacWest in both total strikeouts (54) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.47). Garret Levsen is tied for third in the league with four saves.

SCOUTING UC SAN DIEGO:
The Tritons will come into Tuesday's contest with a 17-14 record. Last weekend they split a home series against Cal State East Bay. They now stand in fifth place in the CCAA at 12-12. Danny Susdorf leads the team with a .353 batting average, 13 doubles, 19 steals and 32 runs scored. Troy Cruz (.329) and Justin Rahn are also hitting over .300 for UCSD. Richard Seigel is the club's main power threat with seven home runs and 25 RBI on the year. Cruz has also been a force on the mound. He leads UCSD with a 1.46 ERA over 24.2 innings pitched. Ryan Goodbrand is the team's top pitcher with a 6-2 record and a 3.00 ERA, while striking out 51 batters in 48 innings.

These teams met earlier in the year at UCSD. The Tritons won 6-5 in 11 innings as Susdorf came in to score on a throwing error. The Sea Lions (1-5) led 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth inning before the Tritons (5-2) rallied to tie the game on a wild pitch and bases loaded walk. Susdorf fueled UCSD throughout the game by going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI out of his leadoff spot. Zach Allen reached base four times out of the leadoff spot for PLNU. He went 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and two walks.

SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART:
The Urban Knights are off to a slow start this season. They are 2-25 on the season and at the bottom of the PacWest standings with a 1-17 conference record. AAU is on a 10 game losing streak after getting swept by Dixie State and Fresno Pacific on consecutive weekends. No member of the Urban Knights is currently hitting over .300, as they have a team batting average of just .199. Tino Leite is currently pacing the squad with a .266 batting average. Stefan Henderson leads the team with eight RBI, 17 walks and a .434 slugging percentage.
