A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
After collecting just two wins during the entire 2012 season, this Sea Lions' squad has already picked up three wins (and a tie) in its first seven matches of 2013, and stand at 3-3-1 on the season. PLNU recently had its four-match undefeated streak snapped with a 1-0 loss at home to San Diego Christian on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Prior to that Point Loma had earned home wins against Southern Nazarene (7-0) and Montana State Billings (2-1 OT), and gone on the road to defeat Dominican (3-0) and earn a tie with Notre Dame de Namur (0-0).

Daniel ten Bosch picked up three more points over the weekend in the Bay Area to increase his PacWest leading total to 10 points. He has three goals and four assists on the season. Those four assists also lead the conference. Nico Tagaloa has matched ten Bosch for the team lead with three goals. Both student-athletes are tied for fourth in the PacWest in goals. PLNU goalkeeper Carter Phillips is ranked amongst the conference leaders in numerous categories. The senior from Santee, Calif., is tied for second in shutouts (two), third in saves (22) and sixth in save percentage (.733).

As a team, Point Loma has seen significant improvement both offensively and defensively in coach Phil Wolf's second season. The Sea Lions have already matched their goal output from last year with 12. They have registered 35 total points with 12 goals and 11 assists in 2013. In 2012 PLNU had just 31 points (12 goals, seven assists). PLNU leads the PacWest with 35 points and 11 assists, and are tied with Academy of Art for the conference lead with 12 goals. Point Loma is also tied for the PacWest lead with three shutouts. PLNU is also sixth in saves and goals against average.

TAGALOA GRABS PACWEST FRESHMAN HONOR-AGAIN:
For the second straight week Point Loma rookie midfielder Nico Tagaloa has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Freshman of the Week (Sept. 16-22). Tagaloa was credited with the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory at Dominican on Sept. 19. He reeled off a long-range shot to the lower side of the far corner at 3:01 to give the Sea Lions an early 1-0 lead. PLNU scored goals in the 14th and 65th minutes to secure the key early-season road win in the Bay Area. On Saturday he helped lock down the midfield as the Sea Lions earned a 0-0 tie at Notre Dame de Namur.

TEN BOSCH NAMED PACWEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sophomore forward Daniel ten Bosch was named the Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15. Ten Bosch scored two goals and had three assists to lead the PLNU men's soccer team to a perfect 2-0 record on the week. This was the Sea Lions' first back-to-back wins since 2011. The Irvine, Calif., native (Woodbridge HS), scored a goal and had three assists in PLNU's dominating 7-0 effort against Southern Nazarene. Ten Bosch then scored the first goal of the match against Montana State Billings on a nice feed from Jonathan Tiggs. The Sea Lions would go on to win the contest in overtime on a goal by Tyler Allen.

A LOOK AT THE VULCANS:
Hawaii Hilo is 3-1-0 on the season. It has earned three straight wins, including defeating Chaminade 3-0 in its conference opener. Goalkeeper Yonha Andrabi has allowed just three goals in four matches, while making 10 saves. He has shutout two opponents. Scott Hill leads the team with two goals. Five other student-athletes have also scored for the Vulcans this season.

A LOOK AT THE SEASIDERS:
BYU-Hawaii is 2-1-1 on the season with both wins coming in their last two contests. The match against PLNU will be the season opener for the Seasiders. Mike Moreno leads the team with three goals and six points. It has taken him just five shots to record those three scores. Chris Pineda has posted two shutouts this season and has stopped nine of the 13 shots he has faced.

A LOOK AT THE SILVERSWORDS:
Chaminade is still looking for its first win of 2013 as they stand 0-5-0 on the season. They have allowed 16 goals while scoring just three of their own. Colton Gallt, Cameron Heen and Tristan Hall have one goal apiece for the Silverswords. Chaminade has also split time in goal between Nic Jetter and Shane Uyehara.

A LOOK AT HAWAII PACIFIC:
The Sea Warriors are even on the season at 2-2-1. They have already come to the mainland in their non-conference schedule and split a pair of contests in the Northwest as they defeated Western Washington (1-0) and lost to Saint Martin's (2-1). Goalie Mael Lefebvre has two shutouts this season and has a 1.53 goals against average. Felipe Silva has four goals to tie for the conference lead.
