Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HONOLULU - Tyler Nordgren went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI and Mickey Dunleavy gave the Sea Lions 4.1 solid innings out of the bullpen to lead the Point Loma baseball team to a 9-8 victory over Hawaii Pacific in the series opener. In game two Hawaii Pacific scored 13 runs in the first and went on to win 21-4.

The doubleheader split leaves the Sea Lions at 13-10 on the season and tied with Hawaii Pacific (12-6) for third place in the Pacific West Conference standings with a 6-4 record.

Game 1
Tyler Nordgren doubled in one run in the first and two in the third. He then hit a two-run homer, his second of the year, as part of a five-run fifth inning for the Sea Lions in which they extended their lead to 9-2.

HPU would match the Sea Lions with five runs of their own in the fifth to knock PLNU starter Kellen Sheppard out of the game. The Sea Warriors were the first team to score on Sheppard in his three March starts. When they got on the board in the first it broke the streak of 24 straight scoreless innings for the freshman from Vista, Calif.

After HPU put its fourth and fifth runs on the board and were threatening for more before coach Joe Schaefer went called on Mickey Dunleavy. Dunleavy struck out Ryan Torres-Torioka to end the fifth then after allowing a single run in the sixth to narrow the Sea Lions' lead to 9-8 he shut the door on the Sea Warriors with three scoreless innings. Dunleavy (1-1) even had to work out of a no-out, runner on third base situation but came away unscathed to pick up his pick up his first win of the season.

Trey Hunt was also a big part of the five-run fifth inning rally. His two-out triple knocked in two runs and then he scored the eventual game-winning run on an error by the third basemen on a ground ball by Clinton Harwick. Tyler Hanzawa was the only Sea Lion besides Nordgren to record a multi-hit game.

The Sea Warriors' Doug Christie (2-2) took the loss after allowing four hits and four runs in the first 2.1 innings of work.

Game 2
Hawaii Pacific jumped on Point Loma with 13 runs in the first inning en route a 21-4 win in game two.

Jordan Oshiro had five hits and scored four runs out of the leadoff spot for the Sea Warriors. Chad Bolibol was 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Ryan Garcia led Point Loma with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Nordgren's bat also stayed hot in the second game as he went 2-for-3.
