Box Score BELMONT, Calif. - The Point Loma men's basketball team built a second half lead and then held off a late rally by the Argonauts to earn a 62-58 victory at Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Sea Lions (15-5, 8-5 PacWest) have now won back-to-back road games to secure their grip on sixth place in the PacWest Conference standings. PLNU up two games on Hawaii Hilo and Chaminade who are tied for seventh place with identical 5-6 conference records. The top six teams in the final PacWest standings will qualify for the conference's postseason tournament in Irvine, Calif. The loss dropped NDNU into 10th place in the PacWest standings with a 3-11 record (4-16 overall).

Junior Morgan paced PLNU with 14 points, including going 6-of-8 at the free throw line.
Zach Burnham came off the bench with 10 points. Nine Sea Lions scored in the game.
Judd Welfringer had a team-high seven rebounds.
Hayden Lescault chipped in with six boards, four assists and two steals.

Point Loma led by as many as 14 points, and was up 59-50 with 2:22 left, but they had to withstand an Argonauts' run that cut the lead one with 40 second left to earn the win. The Sea Lions just went cold late, missing their final three shots of regulation, while NDNU hit two treys and a pair of free throws during an 8-0 run to close the gap to 59-58.

PLNU then ran time off the clock and
Marek Klassen knocked down a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left to extend the lead back to three. NDNU tried for a game-tying 3 but came up empty, and Welfringer secured the rebound, before knocking down a free throw with two seconds left to seal the game.

The Sea Lions shot just 39 percent in the game but overcame that by committing only eight turnovers. This is the sixth time this season PLNU has had single-digit turnovers. On the other side of the ball, Point Loma forced Notre Dame de Namur into 12 turnovers.

Don Washington recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead NDNU.
