PLNU hosts BYUH as part of Senior Day on Saturday

The Point Loma men's soccer team will host their final match of the 2015 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2:00 p.m., when they welcome in BYU-Hawaii for Senior Day, presented by Miguel's Cocina.

Senior Day presented by Miguel's Cocina
Prior to their match with BYU-Hawaii, the Sea Lions will say goodbye to five seniors that will all be playing their final home match at the PLNU Soccer Field. Daniel ten Bosch and Matt Steinhaus are both four-year letterwinners for the Sea Lions. While Arvin Yakou transferred in for two seasons, and both Lewis Grant and Manu Montal came to PLNU for their senior seasons. Miguel's Cocina will be at both the men's and women's matches giving away chips and white sauce.
 
A look at the Sea Lions
The PLNU men's soccer team has split its last five matches, including tying 1-1 against Hawaii Hilo on Tuesday (Oct. 27). The Sea Lions are now 7-5-2 on the season and are tied with Hawaii Pacific for third place in the PacWest standings with 19 points (6-3-1 PacWest). PLNU is six points behind conference-leader Fresno Pacific (25 points aned three behind second-place Dixie State (22 points). Point Loma has gone 4-2-2 record at home this season.
 
Goalkeeper Michael Lambert has been the final line for a Sea Lions' defensive unit that ranks among the nation's elite. Lambert is second in the PacWest and 15th in NCAA Division II with a .701 goals against average. He also ranks second in the PacWest with a .806 save percentage. Lambert is tied for fourth in the PacWest with three shutouts. As a team, PLNU's five shutouts have them tied for second in the conference. 
 
Nico Tagaloa scored the Sea Lions' lone goal of the match against the Vulcans to move into a tie with Manu Montal for the team-lead with five goals. The pair is tied for ninth in the PacWest with five goals. Montal is third in goals per game (.625).
Patrice Glaser is fourth in the PacWest in assists (five) and assists per game (.357).
 
As a team, PLNU is third in the PacWest in scoring average (1.714) and opponent scoring average (0.93). The Sea Lions have also taken the second-most shots in the league, and have been forced to make the second-lowest amount of saves.
 
A look at the Seasiders
BYU-Hawaii is on a three-game winning streak, including upsetting Concordia (CA) 5-3 on Tuesday (Oct. 27). The Seasiders are now 7-7-0 on the season and 5-4-0 in the PacWest.   
 
Jacob McRae leads BYU-Hawaii and the PacWest with 12 goals. That mark shattered the school-record for goals in a single-season. He also tied for the PacWest lead in shots (44) and points (24). Six other student-athletes have scored for the Seasiders to bring the overall goal count to 22. The Seasiders rank fourth in the PacWest in scoring with 1.571 goals per match. Goalkeeper Jaden Epplette is ranked sixth in the PacWest with a .756 save percentage and seventh in goals against average (1.337).
 
Next week
The Point Loma men's soccer team will go on the road next week to close out its 2015 regular season. PLNU will face Dominican (CA) on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. and Holy Names on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
