The Point Loma men's basketball team will play its first home game of the season this Saturday when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in its annual Homecoming game at 8 p.m. This will be the fourth game of the season for both teams. PLNU (0-3) is still looking for its first win, while the Otters are 1-2.

Homecoming weekend information
As always Homecoming is an exciting time on the PLNU campus and 2016 will be no exception. T-shirts/Wristbands for the Homecoming basketball games are already being sold on campus and they will be available in front of Golden Gym on Saturday (11/19).  Current student, staff & faculty cost is $2. Students will need to show a current ID card in order to purchase at the student rate. With the purchase you will receive a wristband and a much coveted t-shirt. Both wristbands and t-shirts will be distributed from the Office of Student Development located on the top floor of the Commons.

Alumni and other visitors (including family/friends of current students) can purchase wristbands/t-shirts on Saturday, 11/19 at the Alumni Association Booth on the Campus Mall, during the Tailgate BBQ, or in front of the Gym. Adult = $8, children = $6. A look at the Sea Lions
The Point Loma basketball team started the year at the PacWest/GNAC Challenge, and dropped a pair of close contests, falling by two to Western Oregon (64-62) and in overtime to Saint Martin's (86-80). On Wednesday, it faced crosstown foe UC San Diego in the first regular season meeting between the teams since 2005-06. PLNU led at the half, 37-34, but the Tritons shot 72 percent in the second half, including hitting 8-of-12 3-pointers, to earn the 82-68 victory.

Josh Rodriguez is leading the Sea Lions with 14.7 points and 6.0 assists per game.
Vince Boumann is also averaging in double-figures with 12.7 ppg, and is leading the Sea Lions with 7.0 rebounds per game. As a team, PLNU is averaging 70.0 ppg and are shooting .418 percent from the field, and .356 percent from 3-point range. Point Loma has a slight rebounding edge on its opponents (0.7 rpg).

A look at the Otters
CSU Monterey Bay is 1-2 this season. The Otters dropped both their games in the CCAA/GNAC Crossover before bouncing back with a win over Notre Dame de Namur of the PacWest. Shawn Smith is leading four student-athletes in double-figures with 14.5 points per game. He is also grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game. Gregg Polosky is pacing the team with 8.3 rebounds per game and .600 shooting percentage. Kevin Warren (13.7 ppg), Jahvon Johnson (12.3 ppg) and Stephen Matthews (10.0 ppg) are also in double-figures for the Otters.

As a team, Cal State Monterey Bay is averaging 79.0 ppg and are shooting .439 percent from the field, and .328 percent from 3-point range. The Otters are outrebounding their opponents by three boards a game.

Point Loma will head up to Azusa, Calif., to face a pair of West Region foes in the APU Classic. PLNU will face Cal State LA on Friday, Nov. 25 and Seattle Pacific (coach Looney's previous team) on Saturday, Nov. 26. Both games will tip off at 5:30 p.m.Â
