Volleyball adds four to 2016 recruiting class

SAN DIEGO - Point Loma head volleyball coach Jonathan Scott announced the addition of four student-athletes to the Sea Lions 2016 recruiting class. Megan Angerstein, Sami Krakower, Conley Kipp and Brianna Sizemore will all join PLNU in the fall.

Here is a look at the four newest members of coach Scott recruiting class:

Megan Angerstein, Libero, Chula Vista, Calif. (Otay Ranch HS)
Angerstein comes to Point Loma from Grossmont College where she was a first team all-conference selection as a libero. She helped the Griffins finish third in the state championships. While at Otay Ranch High School she was the team's four-time defensive player of the year. She is also a very accomplished beach volleyball player.
Coach Scott quote: "Megan is a highly skilled libero who comes from a junior college powerhouse. I believe that she will make an immediate impact in many ways on and off the court."

Sami Krakower, Middle Blocker, Santa Ana, Calif. (Mater Dei HS)
Krakower will come to PLNU as a junior after playing two seasons at San Francisco State. She started every match for the Gators in 2015 and averaged 1.51 kills and 0.59 blocks per set while hitting .205. She was named to the school's and the CCAA All-Academic teams. In high school, Krakower was named to the North Orange County All-Star Team.
Coach Scott quote: "Sami brings all the intangibles that a coach looks for. From dedication to work ethic to humility, and I believe her presence and personality will complement this team perfectly."

Conley Kipp, Middle Blocker, Newport Beach, Calif. (Corona del Mar HS)
Kipp was a NAIA All-America selection for Hope International last year after leading the conference with 3.4 kills per set. She also played collegiately at Washington State before transferring to HIU for one season. While in high school she participated in the Junior Olympics and was a three-time CIF finalist.  Kipp will come to PLNU for one season as a graduate student in the MBA program.
Coach Scott quote: "Conley is the first-ever grad student we have allowed to play for Point Loma. Her experience and leadership will go a long way with the team, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her."

Brianna Sizemore, Middle Blocker, Carlsbad, Calif. (Carlsbad HS)
Sizemore is coming off a fantastic pair of seasons at MiraCosta College where she was named the school's female athlete of the year as a sophomore after averaging 3.7 kills and 2.58 digs per set. She was an all-conference and all-state selection in volleyball, to go along with scholar-athlete honors. She also had an outstanding career in beach volleyball, and took second at state this season.
Coach Scott quote: "Bri is one of the most accomplished players we have gotten to Point Loma. She is both athletic and powerful, and she will assuredly be a lethal weapon for us at Loma."

These four newcomers will join the four incoming freshmen to make up the 2016 recruiting class.
