4/15/2021 10:15:00 AM

This week
The four-game series between Biola and Point Loma will begin this Friday, April 16. The first pitch for Friday's doubleheader at Biola is scheduled to start at noon. Saturday's doubleheader, which will be played at Point Loma, is scheduled for first pitch at noon as well.

Follow along
Due to recent changes in state guidelines, a limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend outdoor sporting events at Point Loma. However, admission to Carroll B. Land Stadium will be limited to fans on the designated pass list and a select number of students and faculty/staff with a PLNU ID.
Unfortunately, due to Los Angeles County guidelines, Biola will not be able to allow spectators at their outdoor events.

You will be able to follow along and watch Friday's doubleheader at team1sports.com/biola/.

You will also be able to follow along and watch Saturday's doubleheader on Point Loma's new and improved live stream at portal.stretchinternet.com/plnu/.

A look at the Sea Lions
This weekend marks the second time PLNU and Biola will play a four-game series this season. The Sea Lions took three of four from the Eagles in their first series.

Baxter Halligan continues to lead the offense with a .365 batting average. Scott Anderson is tied with Halligan for the team lead in hits with 23 and is hitting .333. Otto Kemp continues to produce in the top three positions of the batting order ranking first on the team in total bases with 39 and first in home runs with five.

Dylan Miller has now recorded four straight quality starts after going seven innings of three-run baseball against Concordia in his last start. Miller currently holds a 2.17 ERA which leads all starting Sea Lion pitchers and ranks fifth in the PacWest. Nathan Garkow currently ranks fifth in the PacWest in strikeouts with 35 over 27 innings of work.

A look at the Biola Eagles
The Eagles come into this weekend taking two of three from the nationally-ranked Cougars of Azusa Pacific. The fourth game between the Eagles and Cougars was suspended due to darkness.

Robert Anthony Cruz leads not only the Biola offense but all of the PacWest in batting average hitting .458 with six doubles, seven home runs, and 21 runs batted in. The Biola offense is averaging 5.3 runs per game.

The Sea Lions will look to take advantage of the Eagles starting pitching as no starting pitcher for the Eagles has an ERA below 5.50. Tyler Mead has been the consistent arm out of the bullpen throwing seven innings and allowing just one earned run in six appearances.

Other Sea Lion Notes
> Dylan Miller has recorded four straight quality starts.
> If Point Loma can take two games against Biola it will be the program's 100th victory over Biola.
> After a slow start to the season Michael Pineiro has recorded a hit in three of his last four games and currently four-game on-base streak.

Up next
Following the series, the Sea Lions will host PacWest rival Azusa Pacific on Friday, April 23. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
