(LAKELAND, Fla.) Former PLNU President and Men's Basketball standout Dr. Jim Bond was officially inducted into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame over the weekend, giving him yet another honor after an illustrious career.
Bond starred for Pasadena College before the institution moved to San Diego and was renamed Point Loma Nazarene University.
The PLNU Athletics and NAIA Hall of Famer played a leading role in back-to-back NAIA District III championships for Pasadena College in 1957 and 1958.
Bond dominated on the floor during his college career, averaging 19.5 points and 19.1 rebounds per game, before being selected with the 49th overall pick in the 1958 Draft by the then Minneapolis Lakers.
Instead of playing professional basketball, however, Bond chose to attend seminary in pursuit of a career in ministry.
