LA JOLLA, Calif.-San Diego's best universities competed Friday at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge on the campus of UC San Diego with Point Loma holding its own in a field that featured UCSD, Cal State San Marcos, Army, Navy, and San Diego State.
For Point Loma, it was an opportunity to reinforce their discipline in a meet environment against some of the areas best. Many of PLNU's runners competed in multiple events.
Senior
Logan Williams paced the Sea Lions with a 4:47.66 in the Women's 1500 Meter Run placing 2
nd in the event.
Point Loma also held on Navy in the Women's 4x100 for 2
nd place.
Freshmen
Madelynn Worley and
Jemmia Pennix finished in the top half of the t400-meter run, with Worley coming in 5
th just two seconds of the pace.
Freshman
Aubrie Nex finished third in the 800 meters with a 2:18.39, leading a pack of five Point Loma runners.
Junior
Zita Molnar also finished third in the 3000, right ahead of Williams and
Madi Bucci who were fourth and fifth respectively.
Point Loma's 4x400 team posted a 4:09.32 for a third-place finish as well.
In the field events,
Anessa Chirgwin's 43.41 toss landed her third in the discus throw.
That rounded out a positive showing from Point Loma in its final tune-up before their first home meet of the year, hosting the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational Saturday, March 19
th at the PLNU Track.
