SAN DIEGO-Anessa Chirgwin broke her school record in the discus to lead a valiant effort from the Point Loma Sea Lions Track and Field Team at their first home meet of the season Saturday during the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational.

Chirgwin improved on each of her four attempts and had the two longest throws of the day. Her final mark of 47.61 meters, which was two and a half meters than the 2nd place finisher.

Her third attempt was within a foot of her previous best, the school record she set in 2021, but Chirgwin blew away the field, exceeding her best performance by five feet.

Chirgwin also had a top 10 finish in the Hammer, finishing 6th with a 133'4" in her third attempt. Again, Chirgwin improved on each of her tosses, just topping her 2nd throw by half a meter.
