PLNU ADDS POWERFUL PERFORMANCES IN IRVINE

4/2/2022 10:44:00 PM

IRVINE, Calif.-Top ten finishes, personal bests, and a litany of entries in the program's record books highlighted Point Loma's participation at the Vince O'Boyle Classic hosted by UC Irvine on Saturday.

Blanca Granados posted a 12.54 in the 100-meter dash, finishing 7th at the Vince O'Boyle Classic. Granados was just off of a program top 10 finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25.61 seconds. Madelynn Worley was right behind her with a 25.93.

Worley's 400-meter time was good enough for 3rd place on Saturday, bringing in six points for Point Loma by coming in just under a minute with a 58.24. Jazmin Santos and Sara Kuhn also brought in points for the Sea Lions, rounding out the top 10 in Irvine.

Leading the distance runners in the 800 meter, Aubrie Nex led Point Loma's effort by finishing in 2:24.27 for three more points.

Madi Bucci added three points in the 5000 meter run as the senior finished in 6th with a time of 18:24.

Freshmen Charis Johnston and Katelyn Muniz delivered solid performances in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 5th and 6th place respectively.

Muniz also delivered a terrific effort in the long jump, coming in 4th place with a jump of 16-03.25.

Anessa Chirgwin added another entry on the PLNU Discus Top 10 list, placing 3rd with a throw of 147-00.

Chirgwin's toss of 136'3" in the Hammer toss lands in the all-time top 10 of Point Loma school history. It's the second time Chirgwin has landed on that list, as she is the owner of the 5th and, now, 8th best tosses in school history.

Point Loma will have two more tune-ups before the conference meet at the end of the month beginning with the UCSD Triton Invitational on Saturday, April 9th.
