SAN DIEGO-During a record-setting weekend, the Point Loma Sea Lions posted an all-time mark and another entry on the program's top ten list as they finished 6
th at the PacWest Championships on the PLNU Track.
Anessa Chirgwin broke her own school record in the discus, with a mark of 47.79, exceeding the number she set at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational in March. Chirgwin's mark was 4 meters, or 15 feet, better than 2
nd place to net 10 points for Point Loma.
Aubrie Nex also made an impact on the school record book, delivering the 6
th best time in the 1500 meter run in the history of the program at 4:35.03. Nex finished the PacWest Championships in 5
th on Saturday.
Chirgwin also landed a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw, finishing with 41.93 meters.
PLNU netted 5 points in four other events, including
Nica Zsiros'Â fourth-place finish in the heptathlon. Zsiros finished strong, including a 2
nd place finish in the 800-meter run.
Point Loma had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the relays, just missing the podium in the Women's 4 x 400-meter relay. Jazmyn Santos,
Blanca Granados, Madison Worley, and
Jemmia Pennix posted a 3:52.91, missing third by .52 seconds.
Groves, Granados, Worley, and Pennix also grabbed fourth in the 4 x 100-meter relay, holding off Concordia for the extra point by .23 seconds.
Eva Koutelieris and
Peyton Yoshida netted five combined points in the Pole Vault. Koutelieris' cleared 3.45 meters to snag fifth, while Yoshida topped 3.15 meters to land in 8
th place.
Point Loma also had a string of personal records with
Madi Bucci finishing 6
th in the 10k with a time just under 40 minutes, nabbing 3 points for PLNU.
Sarah Pratt's 800-meter run was a personal best at 2:23.27.
