NEW ORLEANS – The USTFCCCA announced its women's outdoor track & field all-region honors and
Anessa Chirgwin was named to the All-West Region team for discus as one of five honorees in the event for the region.
Chirgwin ranked second in the region in the discus with her throw of 48.14 meters at the APU Last Chance meet, and was one of only two athletes from the West to qualify for nationals in the discus.
Chirgwin took first place in the discus at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Meet on March 19 with her throw of 47.61 meters. That was her best throw of the season until the PacWest Championships, where she took first place for the second time this season. Her throw of 47.79 meters made her a PacWest Champion in the discus.
She climbed up the performance list by taking second place at the APU Last Chance meet, securing her spot at nationals. She then took 18th place at the national championships representing Point Loma in Allendale, Michigan.
