Anna Massari and
Abigail Nua both received All-West Region honors on Wednesday, a day before PacWest Conference Champion PLNU Volleyball plays in the first round of the NCAA West Regional.
Â
Massari and Nua were both selected to the AVCA Division II All-West Region Team, as picked by members of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, making it two-straight years that Point Loma has had multiple Sea Lions earn the honor.
Â
Â
Additionally, Massari was also named to the D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, as voted on by West Region institutions.
Â
Massari ranks sixth in NCAA Division II in blocks/set (1.32), while also leading the PacWest Conference in the category and total blocks (132).
Â
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker also ranks third in the conference in hitting % (.329), with her 233 kills on the season being the third most on the team.
Â
Â
Nua leads Point Loma in kills (304) and is second in digs (261), while ranking fifth in the PacWest in both kills and points/set (3.80).
Â
The 2022 AVCA Third Team All-American's numbers would be even more dominant if she didn't selflessly serve as a defensive specialist and libero in a few games while helping the team overcome a handful of injuries.
Â
Both Massari and Nua were named to the All-PacWest First Team last week.
Â
Point Loma (21-6 overall, 18-2 PacWest) is the sixth seed in the NCAA West Regional and will play Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday at 5 p.m. in San Bernardino.
