(CARY, N.C.) No. 4 PLNU Baseball is set to face off with No. 8 Angelo State in the NCAA Division II World Series on Monday night after both teams won their opening games.

Point Loma defeated fifth-seeded IUP, 2-1, in the first game of the tournament on Saturday, followed by ASU's 3-2 win over No. 1 Central Missouri in 11 innings.

Angelo State, the defending national champions, are playing in their fourth-straight World Series after once again winning the South Central Region.

ASU is making its seventh World Series appearance overall.

Point Loma (46-11-1 overall) and Angelo State (42-19) have never played before.

First pitch on Monday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex is scheduled for 3 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT.

PLNU will bat first as the designated away team, since the Sea Lions were home in their first game while the Rams were visitors.

The winner will advance to play on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. PDT / 1:30 p.m. EDT.

The loser will play an elimination game on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. PDT / 1:30 p.m. EDT against either Central Missouri or IUP.
