(CARY, N.C.) No. 4 PLNU Baseball will take on No. 5 IUP on Wednesday in Cary, North Carolina at 8 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT with the season on the line for both teams.
 
Both squads have gone 1-1 at the NCAA Division II World Series and will face off in an elimination game, with the winner advancing to the national semifinals and the loser being sent home.

Point Loma defeated IUP on Saturday, 2-1, in the World Series opener for both teams in a pitcher's duel that featured seven stellar innings from PLNU's Dylan Miller, who earned his 12th victory of the season.
 
Eric Smelko and Esai Santos collected RBIs for the Sea Lions before closer James Sashin picked up his 18th save of the season to set a new program and PacWest Conference single season record.
 
Facing elimination, the Crimson Hawks then turned around on Monday and took down the tournament's top seed, Central Missouri, 4-3.
 
IUP (39-17 overall) trailed by one going into the eighth and scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead before clinching its first DII World Series victory in program history.
 
Later on Monday, PLNU matched up with Angelo State in a winner's bracket game and took an early 5-2 lead before the Rams came back to win 13-6.
 
Point Loma (46-12-1) is seeking a second trip to the national semifinals after finishing as national runner-up in 2022.
 
The winner of Wednesday's elimination game will advance to play Angelo State (43-19) on Thursday and will need to beat the Rams twice to reach the national championship.
