(SAN DIEGO) For the third time this season, PLNU Volleyball setter
Sophia Baugh is the PacWest Player of the Week.
Baugh set a conference season-high with 67 assists in No. 2 Point Loma's five-set victory over No. 9 Fresno Pacific on Saturday that clinched the PacWest championship for the Sea Lions.
The junior also combined for 80 assists in matches against Vanguard and Jessup, as Baugh finished the regular season leading the conference with 11.31 assists per set, 0.95 more than the next-closest PacWest player.
With Saturday's win, Point Loma earned a share of the PacWest title, its second conference crown in three seasons, and the No. 1 seed in this week's PacWest Championships in Honolulu.
Point Loma (23-3 overall, 11-1 PacWest) will play against No. 4 seed Hawai'i Hilo (20-8, 9-3) in Thursday's semifinals at 4:30 p.m. HT / 6:30 p.m. PT.
The winner will then advance to the championship match against either No. 2 seed FPU (23-1, 11-1) or No. 3 seed and tournament host Chaminade (16-13, 9-3).
Friday's championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. HT / 8 p.m. PT.
