(SAN DIEGO) Following a fourth-straight conference title, PLNU Men's Basketball is well-represented on the All-PacWest Team, with Head Coach
Justin Downer being named the conference's Coach of the Year and four Sea Lions earning All-Conference honors.
Zackry Paulsen and
Luke Haupt are featured on the All-PacWest First Team, while
Coby Barnes and
Tyce Paulsen were selected to the Second and Third Teams respectively.
All four Sea Lions are being recognized with postseason PacWest honors for the second time in their PLNU careers.
Zackry Paulsen leads Point Loma and ranks third in the conference this season in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game. He also is second in the PacWest this year in 3-point % (.420), third in free throw % (.842) and minutes per game (33.5), fourth in field goal % (.497) and fifth in 3-pointers made per game (2.4).
Haupt, a First Team All-PacWest selection in 2022-23 before missing all last season because of injury, leads the team this year in rebounding, assists, and steals, while ranking second in scoring. He's sixth in the conference in assists per game (3.1), 12th in points per game (13.7) and 16th in steals per game (1.5).
Barnes receives his second-straight Second Team honor after also doing so in 2023-24. He once again is averaging double-digit points per game (10.1), while also pulling down 4.2 rebounds per game.
Tyce Paulsen, the 2023-24 PacWest Freshman of the Year, earns his first All-Conference award after averaging 10.6 points per game in the regular season. His 2.1 3-pointers made per game ranks ninth in the conference.
All four of PLNU's All-PacWest selections have played in and started all 30 games this season.
Downer led Point Loma to a second-consecutive PacWest regular season title with him as head coach. The Sea Lions' 25 wins this year ties a program record for most regular season wins in a single season, as PLNU is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA West Regional rankings entering the postseason.
Point Loma (25-5 overall, 18-2 PacWest), ranked No. 8 in the D2CSC Media Poll and No. 12 in the NABC Coaches Poll, will be the No. 1 seed in this week's PacWest Championships.
PLNU receives a first-round bye and advances straight to the conference semifinals, where the Sea Lions will play against either fourth-seeded Hawai'i Hilo or fifth-seeded Concordia.
Tip-off in Friday's semifinals is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. in San Rafael.
