YOSHIDA THREE-PEATS AS PACWEST POLE VAULT CHAMPION

RESULTS

(FRESNO, Calif.) Peyton Yoshida three-peated as PacWest pole vault champion, highlighting a successful opening day of the PacWest Track & Field Championships for Point Loma.
 
Yoshida led a Sea Lions' sweep of the podium in the event, with Danielle Gould and Brianne Camarena finishing second and third.
 
The trio set new career-bests with all clearing 3.79 meters and combining to earn PLNU 24 points as a team (Yoshida – 10, Gould – 8, Camarena – 6). All three earned All-PacWest honors for finishing in the top three in the event.
   
Lia Markert (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Ryley Burns (10,000 meters) each placed fifth in their respective events to earn four points apiece for Point Loma.
 
Markert crossed the finish line in a time of 11:20.22, while Burns' 10K time of 37:37.19 moves her up to fifth place all-time in the event in program history.
 
Sarah McGarry (400-meter hurdles – 1:01.43), Maddie Reeves (1500 meters – 4:38.97) and Bree Gentry (800 meters – 2:14.46) all qualified for Saturday's finals in their respective races.
   
McGarry won heat two and had the third-fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, while Reeves also had the third-best trials mark in the 1500 meters. Gentry placed second in heat two to automatically qualify for the 800 meter finals.
 
With three events to go, Rowan Cebulski is currently in third place in the heptathlon with 2,839 points, while Reagan Cole is in sixth with 2,659 points. Cebulski set a new personal best in the 200 meters, while Cole set a new career-high in the shot put.
 
McGarry set a new personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.38 meters, which qualified her for the finals in the event before finishing ninth.
 
Eliana Perks placed ninth in the 10,000 meters (39:16.26), beating her previous personal best by 29 seconds.
 
Angelica Gomes remains at No. 5 all-time in program history in the 200 meters with her new personal record time of 24.66 seconds.
 
Other Sea Lions to set new personal bests on the day include Rylee Flanagan (long jump – 4.84 meters), Kaelyn Glendrange (100-meter hurdles – 16.10 seconds), Brynn Celani (100 meters – 12.68 seconds) and Mikayla Horning (800 meters – 2:16.64).
 
Point Loma will conclude the PacWest Championships on Saturday in Fresno.
