(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Baseball designated hitter
Jake Entrekin was named to the NCBWA All-American First Team on Wednesday, marking the fourth straight year that Point Loma has had a First Team All-American.
Entrekin, already previously selected to the NCBWA and D2CCA All-West Region First Teams, adds yet another individual award to his name after putting together one of the finest statistical seasons from a Sea Lions all-time.
The San Diego native led the West Region in home runs (23), slugging % (.825), on-base % (.524), OPS (1.349) and walks (42).
His 74 RBIs set a single-season program record, while his 23 homers this year rank second among Sea Lions in any single season. His .402 batting average is also the second best by any player in the program's NCAA era.
Entrekin finishes his career as Point Loma's all-time career leader in home runs (49) and RBIs (194). He is also tied for sixth in program history in career hits (226).
Point Loma (39-18 overall) reached a fourth straight NCAA West Regional this season, extending its program record, and finishing just one game shy of a third Super Regionals appearance in four years.
