(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Baseball placed seven players on the All-PacWest Teams, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday evening.
A trio of Sea Lions earned First Team honors, while Point Loma had two on each of the second and third teams.
Jake Entrekin (designated hitter),
Luke Reece (second baseman) and
Branden Jackel (starting pitcher) represent PLNU on the First Team.
Matt Bernath (shortstop) and
Michael Sarhatt (relief pitcher) were selected to the Second Team, while
Noah Meffert (outfield) and
Brock Mayer (starting pitcher) earned Third Team honors.
Entrekin becomes the first Sea Lion in program history to receive First Team recognition three times, as he leads the conference this season in home runs (19), walks (38), on-base % (.537), slugging % (.832) and OPS (1.369).
He also ranks second in the PacWest in runs scored (57) and RBIs (62), third in batting average (.416), fourth in hits (67) and fifth in hit by pitch (12). His .416 batting average is the highest of any Sea Lion in PLNU's NCAA era.
Reece is batting .353 this season with a 1.013 OPS, to go along with eight home runs and 47 RBIs. He ranks fifth in the conference this season in runs scored (47), RBIs (47) and doubles (14), as well as 10th in hits (61) and hit by pitch (11).
Jackel began the season without allowing an earned run in his first 23.2 innings of work. He holds an 8-2 record, posting a 2.64 ERA in 61.1 innings pitched. The left hander ranks second in the PacWest in wins, and third in both ERA and opposing batting average (.232).
Bernath is batting .351 with a .479 on-base % and a .936 OPS. He leads the conference in hit by pitch (14) and ranks fifth in on-base % and 10th in runs scored (45). The shortstop is the first PLNU freshman to earn All-Conference honors since 2022.
Sarhatt leads all PLNU relievers with 18 appearances this season, pitching 29 innings and striking out 40 batters. The hard-throwing right hander also has a 2-0 record on the mound to go along with three saves.
Meffert, who has played center field, right field and shortstop this season, is batting .319 with seven home runs, 45 RBIs and a .935 OPS. He ranks eighth in the conference in stolen bases (12) and RBIs, as well as 10th in doubles (12).
Mayer has helped solidify PLNU's rotation, posting an 8-2 record with a 4.12 ERA in 59 innings pitched. His eight wins rank are tied with Jackel for the second most in the conference, while his ERA ranks eighth among qualifying starters.
Point Loma (36-14 overall, 32-12 PacWest) is the No. 2 seed in the PacWest Championships, which begin on Wednesday in Fresno.
PLNU will take on No. 3 seed Hawai'i Pacific at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
