(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Men's Tennis' No. 1 singles player
Alexander Leischner was voted to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® First Team for the second time in his career, as announced on Wednesday.
Leischner, a two-time PacWest Conference Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is the only player in program history to receive Academic All-America® recognition, awarded for athletic and academic excellence.
The Aichach, Germany native graduated from Point Loma in May with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a mathematics major and finance minor.
This season, Leischner went 9-8 in singles and 9-8 in doubles, receiving All-PacWest Third Team recognition in singles and Second Team honors in doubles.
He became the first PLNU Men's Tennis player to be named to the All-PacWest Singles Team in four straight seasons, while his seven total All-Conference awards are the most in program history.
Leischner also set a PacWest Conference record for most career singles victories (11) at the PacWest Championships.
Point Loma finished the season with a 13-7 record and reached the NCAA West Regional for the third straight year.
