(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) PLNU Women's Golf moved up one spot on the team leaderboard during the second and final round of the RJGA Shootout at Estrella, finishing in sixth place out of 14 teams.
Entering the day in seventh position, Point Loma improved its score from Monday by three strokes to record a team score of 300 on the day.
Helping with that improvement was
Allie Nguyen, who shot a one-under 71 with three birdies and two bogeys. After beginning her round with a birdie on the par-five fourth hole, Nguyen birdied two of her final three holes to finish tied for 13th individually.
Giana Gunasayan (T-22) and
Sofy Guarneros (T-30) both shot second rounds of 76, while
Annika Yturralde (T-34) and
Avery Sky (T-39) both finished in the top-40 on the individual leaderboard as well.
Gunasayan's seven birdies across the two rounds tied for the fourth most among all players. Both she and Nguyen shot even-par on par-three holes, tied for sixth best in the tournament.
Point Loma returns to the course this weekend to play at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational in South Jordan, Utah on Sunday and Monday.
