(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Men's Basketball junior forward Andrew Hommes was named the PacWest Defender of the Week, while Point Loma was selected as Team of the Week after clinching a fifth-straight conference title.
 
PLNU clinched at least a share of the PacWest crown with Thursday's 89-61 win against Vanguard, before sealing the outright conference championship with Saturday's 85-59 Homecoming victory against Concordia.
 
Hommes was instrumental in both wins, helping Point Loma limit its two opponents to only 60 points per game.

"Andrew Hommes has been the premier defender in the PacWest all year," Head Coach Justin Downer said. "His ability to guard every position on the floor, to go along with his rim protection, has made our defense so versatile."
 
The 6-foot-6 forward leads the team with 42 blocks this season, which ranks fifth in the PacWest this season.
 
"He's regularly checked onto the other team's top player, and to his credit, that player has had an off night more often than not because of his defensive prowess," Downer said.

Point Loma (22-4 overall, 17-3 PacWest) takes an eight-game winning streak into the final week of the regular season.
 
PLNU has two more regular season games remaining, both at home, beginning on Thursday against Hawai'i Pacific.
 
Tip-off in Golden Gym is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
