(WALNUT, Calif.) PLNU Women's Track & Field put together an impressive season opener on Saturday at the Ron Kamaka Open, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College.
Point Loma won three events, while finishing in the top three in eight others, as three Sea Lions moved up or into the program's Top 10 List.
Skyler Cazale placed first in the triple jump, moving up to sixth place all-time in program history in the event with a mark of 11.27 meters. She also finished as runner-up in the long jump with a personal best leap of 5.40 meters.
LillyAnn Brewer finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 63.67 seconds, as
Lola Wright (67.05 seconds) placed third in the same event.
The 4x100 meter relay of
Madison Simmers,
Aubrey Montoya,
Lillian Gomez and
Grace Park also crossed the finish line in first, doing so in a time of 47.60 seconds, finishing 0.03 seconds ahead of second place.
Danielle Gould finished runner-up in the pole vault with a new personal best mark of 3.80 meters that moves her into a tie for second place among Sea Lions all-time, after previously being in a tie for third place. She also hit the NCAA Division II Championships provisional qualifying mark (3.79 meters).
Mikayla Horning was also runner-up in the 1500 with a personal best time of 4:45.43, just ahead of teammates
Jocelyn Gibson (4:48.24) and
Michelle Ramos (4:49.95) in fourth and fifth respectively.
Carsen McKinney (discus throw – 38.02 meters) and
Reagan Cole (100 meters – 12.34 seconds, 100-meter hurdles – 14.78 seconds) placed third in their respective events.
Cole set personal bests in both the 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles, moving into eighth place in program history in the latter, up two spots from No. 10.
Cole, Brewer,
Abby Patton and
Jocelyn Contreras finished third in the 4x400 meter relay (4:01.67).
Point Loma returns to action on Saturday at the Rossi Relays in Claremont.
