Summer Schafer is tied for the individual lead after the first round of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, with Point Loma right in the mix as a team.
Schafer fired a four-under round of 68, with five birdies and one bogey, and is in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard going into Tuesday's second and final round.
Point Loma shot its second-straight round of under par, carding a two-under score to sit just three shots behind first place Cal State San Marcos.
Schafer began her day with a birdie on the par-five 15th and closed her round with a birdie on the par-four 14th, while also carding a birdie on the par-four 18th and recording consecutive birdies on the par-three fifth and par-five sixth.
She shot two-under on both par-four and par-five holes.
Avery Sky (T-13th) shot two-under on par-fives and one-under on par-threes, with four birdies on the day, as she shot an even-par round of 72.
Allie Nguyen's 15 pars on the day led all players, with the LA Spring Kickoff individual winner tied for 17th at one-over (73) along with teammate
Bella Gunasayan, who shot two-under on par-five holes.
Point Loma is scheduled to tee off at Corica Park G.C. on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
