(OAKLAND, Calif.) PLNU Women's Golf continued its strong start to the spring with a second-place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.
Point Loma shot one-under as a team in Tuesday's second and final round to finish the tournament at three-under, extending its streak of rounds under par to three.
Bella Gunasayan had the best round of any Sea Lion on the day, shooting a four-under 68 to move up 12 spots into a tie for fifth on the individual leaderboard.
Summer Schafer, who entered the day in a three-way tie for first after her 68 on Monday, finished tied with Gunasayan in fifth.
Avery Sky shot her second-straight round of even-par (72) to tie for 10th, making it three Sea Lions in the top-10, while
Allie Nguyen (74) tied for 20th.
Gunasayan carded five birdies and just one bogey on the day, while Schafer had six birdies in round two, with four on the back-nine including back-to-back on the final two holes.
Schafer dominated on par-five holes in the tournament, shooting five-under, while Gunasayan and Sky both shot one-under on par-threes.
Nguyen led all players with 29 pars, while Schafer's 11 birdies across the two rounds tied for the second most among participants.
Point Loma returns to competition March 9-10 at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at Shadowridge C.C in Vista.
