(LOS ANGELES) PLNU Women's Track & Field had its best weekend of what has already been a strong start to the spring season, setting one new school record and posting nine additional top-10 marks in program history.
At the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival hosted at UCLA on Friday,
Maddie Reeves broke her own school record in the 5,000 meters by over eight seconds, winning the race in a time of 16:36.30.
She also broke the 3,000 meter school record on Feb. 28 at the Rossi Relays, while also holding the best mark in program history in the 10,000 meters.
Teammates
Elizabeth Satterlee (17:24.61) and
Jocelyn Gibson (17:34.24) finished fourth and fifth in the race, moving up to seventh and 10th respectively in program history in the event.
Lia-Luisa Markert finished third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, now ranking third among Sea Lions all-time after crossing the finish line in 11:00.25.
Zaila Smith placed fourth in the 10,000 meters in a time of 37:19.96, which ranks her fifth in program history in the 10K.
Then on Saturday at the Vince O'Boyle Invite at UC Irvine, five more top-10 marks were achieved, with
Abby Patton (200 meters – 24.83 seconds),
Skyler Cazale (triple jump – 11.53m) and
Aubrey Montoya (100 meters – 12.13 seconds) all now ranking sixth among Sea Lions all-time in their respective events.
Cazale improves upon her personal best which previously had her at sixth in program history, while Montoya also moved up to seventh among Sea Lions in the 200 meters (24.85 seconds).
Katherine Heekin ran 12.26 seconds in the 100 meters, now ranking ninth in PLNU history.
Point Loma will have athletes competing at two different meets on Friday and Saturday, the Stanford Invite and Triton Invite.
