Danielle Gould Leu won the PacWest pole vault title and
Elizabeth Satterlee claimed the 3,000-meter steeplechase crown to highlight Point Loma's opening day at the PacWest Championships, hosted at the PLNU Track & Field.
Gould Leu, who finished second in the event at last year's conference meet, vaulted 3.70 meters on her second attempt after being one of only two competitors to clear the bar at 3.60 meters.
The Sea Lions have now won the PacWest pole vault in four-straight years after
Peyton Yoshida won from 2023-25.
Satterlee took first place in the steeplechase, winning by six seconds over her next closest competitor. The favorite going into the event, she led practically from start to finish before crossing the line in a time of 10:52.63.
Kate Shintaffer finished fifth in the javelin (37.83 meters), while
Lia-Luisa Markert (3,000-meter steeplechase – 11:13.80) and
Zaila Smith (10,000 meters – 37:26.12) placed sixth in their respective events to earn points for PLNU.
Michelle Ramos (H1 - 4:46.13) and
Maddie Reeves (H2 - 4:46.16) won their respective heats in the 1500-meter trials and were the top two automatic qualifiers for Saturday's finals, while
Jocelyn Gibson (4:46.83) also advances with the sixth best qualifying time.
Ramos then qualified for the 800-meter finals with a time of 2:17.71 (sixth), as did
Mikayla Horning (2:16.89) in fourth.
Rowan Cebulski (3,031 points) leads the heptathlon after four events, while
Nica Zsiros (2,641) is in seventh.
Cebulski set a new personal best mark in the high jump (1.66 meters) to lead all heptathletes in the event, moving up into a tie for sixth in program history. She also finished second in the 200 meters (25.60 seconds), third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.31 seconds) and fourth in the shot put (10.93 meters) among heptathletes.
Zsiros' best event on the day was the 100-meter hurdles (15.22 seconds), finishing second among heptathletes, before placing fourth in the 200-meter dash (25.90 seconds).
Reagan Cole (1:01.99) and
Sarah McGarry (1:02.58) finished one, two in heat three of the 400-meter hurdle prelims to advance to Saturday's finals, where they'll be joined by teammate
LillyAnn Brewer (1:03.75).
Cole also qualified for the 100-meter hurdles finals with the seventh-best prelim time (14.61 seconds).
Abby Patton booked her spot in the 400-meter finals with the sixth-best qualifying mark (57.40 seconds).
Point Loma, currently in fourth place as a team with 30 points, will begin the final day of the PacWest Championships on Saturday with the heptathlon long jump at 10:45 a.m.
