(CARY, N.C.) After winning its NCAA Division II World Series opener, No. 6 seed PLNU Baseball advances to play No. 2 Tampa on Monday with both teams 1-0 in the tournament thus far.

Point Loma defeated No. 3 seed Catawba, 11-5, on Saturday before Tampa took care of No. 7 seed Bentley, 13-2, in the nightcap.

PLNU, the West Region champions, is making its third NCAA Division II World Series appearance in five seasons and improved to 3-0 all-time in tournament openers.

The Sea Lions scored five runs in the eighth inning against Catawba to break a 5-5 tie before tying its program record for most runs scored (11) in an NCAA DII World Series game.

Tampa, the two-time defending national champions, has won the most national championships (10) of any NCAA DII program all-time.

The Spartans jumped out to an immediate 10-0 lead against Bentley after scoring seven in the third inning. UT then led by as many as 13-0 to start its quest for a three-peat.
