(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Athletics has officially launched a new Sea Lions icon logo.
 
The newly released logo is a secondary one and is an addition to the current crest logo, which is the official logo of PLNU Athletics.
 
"Our existing PLNU Athletics logos have built a lot of brand equity and have become synonymous with success over the past decade, so those logos will remain at the core of our brand,” Senior Associate Athletic Director Brian Thornton said. “However, we felt it was time to build on the look and identity we already have and add another logo that gives us, our teams, our university community and our fans a fresh energizing way to show off our Loma Pride."
 
The new logo showcases a Sea Lion icon in multiple forms.
 
One version has the Sea Lion icon inside the official PLNU Athletics’ crest, while the other features a Sea Lion above the Point Loma wordmark.
 
Sport specific wordmark logos are available as well.
 
"There has definitely been an appetite for a more fun graphic image that represents our mascot and we wanted to do that in a way that also visually reinforces the tenacity and competitiveness of our programs on the courts, fields and courses,” Thornton said.
