Box Score PLNU dropped a tough GSAC match at Vanguard 5-4 Tuesday afternoon at the Costa Mesa Tennis Complex. The NAIA No. 7-ranked Sea Lions came within a point of claiming the upset win over sixth-ranked VUSC.

The GSAC squads split the first two doubles points; the Lions winning on one and the Sea Lions winning on two. PLNU won the third to head into singles with a 2-1 advantage.

Vanguard evened the score with a win one court two singles. The Lions took a 3-2 lead by winning on six. The outlook got bleaker for PLNU when they dropped singles on five. VUSC then claimed the five points needed for the team triumph with a point on the top court.

PLNU made the score closer when Tyler Bowman and David Jaehnig won courts three and four, respectively.

The Sea Lions fell to 0-2 overall and in conference. Vanguard improved to 2-1 overall, 2-0 GSAC.

PLNU hosts Azusa Pacific this Saturday starting at 11:00 am.
