SAN DIEGO - Brianna Colon scored 25 points and Kaitlyn Trotter added 19 to lead the NAIA No. 17-ranked Sea Lions to an 81-61 win over No. 14 Trevecca Nazarene in front of a large Homecoming crowd Saturday night in Golden Gym.

Point Loma Nazarene improved to 2-1 with the win while the Trojans fell to 1-3.  The Sea Lions earned the victory by holding TNU to a 35.5 shooting percentage and forcing 23 turnovers which they turned into 21 points.

The opening minutes were full of misses by both teams. The Trojans scored first, on a three, three and a half minutes into the non-conference tilt. Trotter put in PLNU's first points at 15:40 in the first. Though they started slowly, the Sea Lions finished the first strong, building a lead which swelled to 18 on a Kiley Berlinski triple at the half.

The Sea Lion advantage grew to 21 in the second stanza but the Trojans rallied and closed the deficit to just 10 halfway into the half. That was as close as the game would get.  Four consecutive free throws stopped the TNU run and PLNU cruised to the 20-point victory.

PLNU shot 42.4 percent for the game, making nine threes and 16-of-25 from the stripe. Colon was good on 9-of-15 attempts and also pulled in seven rebounds. Trotter added 11 boards to her tally.

Crissa Jackson stepped up for the Sea Lions as well, contributing 11 points and four assists. Berlinski scored 10 points and had seven rebounds, Callie Rhoads added eight points.

London Elie paced TNU with 14 points. Rachel Bollinger and Rachel Raby each added 10 points.

The Sea Lions take 10 days off before hosting California Baptist on Tuesday, November 30 for a GSAC game that starts at 5:30 pm.
