PLNU swept past visiting Villanova 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at the PLNU Tennis Courts. The Sea Lions improved 7-1 overall while the Wildcats stayed winless at 0-10. PLNU, the NAIA No. 6-ranked team, played matches in three consecutive days, falling to conference rivals No. 1 Fresno Pacific, beating #3 Concordia and taking down the NCAA DI Wildcats.
PLNU grabbed all three doubles points on Wednesday in quick fashion. The most dominate win came on court two where Rachel Owens and Ashley Litchfield blanked Courtney Reed and Kristin Gobberg.
Heading into singles with a 3-0 lead, Sea Lion coach Rich Hills opted to rest All-American Kristin Strimple and moved the rest of the lineup up one spot. The team responded with straight sets wins on each court to complete the sweep. Litchfield, Owens, Jessica Kwan, Kiersten Steinhauer, Wileen Chiu and Samantha Mohr all won for the Point Loma.
The Sea Lions return to conference action on Saturday when they travel to The Master's for a 1:00 pm match.
