SAN DIEGO -- The No. 10-ranked Sea Lions recorded the team's first GSAC sweep over The Master's College Saturday night in Golden Gymnasium (25-20, 25-22, 25-15). It seems as if Point Loma regained some of the momentum it lost from early in the season

After defeating Vanguard University in five sets Tuesday, the Sea Lions are slowly climbing their way back into a good conference record, sitting at a solid .500.

The Mustangs came out of the gate at the same pace as Point Loma in the first set, but were slowed down very quickly thanks to a serving spree by freshman Delaney McCraney that lasted for six unanswered points. The gap made there would tell the rest of the story, as the Sea Lions eventually won the set, five points ahead.

Point Loma didn't have it quite as easy the second time around, where the score was tied 13 times. By the time the Sea Lions were ahead 23-22, back-to-back kills from Alyssa Dwyer and Maddie Dahms sealed the deal.

Though just like the first, the Mustangs kept up with PLNU for the first few points, but got lost fast in the dust of Tabitha Henken, Taylor Lane, McCraney, and Dwyer. Lane served up an ace that tipped the net to score the game point, set, and match.

McCraney led the team in kills with 11, while Lane and Henken followed close behind with nine and eight kills. Dahms recorded a .417 hitting percentage, with six kills and Dwyer also contributed eight in the win. Natalie Hamill and Aimee Bird combined for 33 assists while Lane had 12 ups, with Caitlin Bernardin added 10.

The Sea Lions outhit TMC .292 to .178 and had five more service aces, but surprisingly also had four more service errors than the Mustangs. Master's Victoria Callihan was big for the Mustangs with 11 kill on just 18 swings, and Ashley Newton added seven.

Point Loma wore pink uniforms Saturday in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

TMC and PLNU are now both 3-3 in the conference. The Sea Lions (11-3 overall) will face Biola University in La Mirada on Tuesday, Oct 4 at 7:00 pm.
