SAN DIEGO -- The Sea Lions outscored San Diego Christian by 34 points during Tuesday evening's Faculty Appreciation Night in Golden Gymnasium. It was Point Loma's  second straight sweep of the week (25-16, 25-14, 25-11).

There was no question about it; the Sea Lions played all-around better than the Hawks. Point Loma outhit SDCC .402-.135, outserved the Hawks nine aces to two, outblocked six to one, and had seven less receiving errors than the El Cajon visitors.

Point Loma rose to the occasion. The first set got away fast, as the Sea Lions lead by six points within a few short minutes. SDCC never caught up and never would for the rest of the match.

The second and third sets were more of the same: large margins fast with no catching up from the Hawks. After a serving spree from McKensey Wise in the third set, the Sea Lions were already up 10-3. They didn't quit, only allowing San Diego seven more points in the game, set, match.

There wasn't a standout hitter for PLNU; instead multiple players recorded about the same number of kills. Freshman Delaney McCraney continued to dominate, recording a team-high 10 kills on just 21 swings.

Taylor Lane, Tabitha Henken, and Alyssa Dwyer combined for 20 kills while Destiny McIntyre, Marissa Ellow, and Wise put in nine together.  Aimee Bird recorded her usual 29 assists while Caitlin Bernadin had 11 ups in the back row.

A late-game scare came when Dwyer and Kelsey Barker collided at the net, forcing Dwyer to leave the court for the rest of the match. After the win, however, the sophomore was smiling and walking without a hitch.

The Hawk biggest hitter was Lauren Howard, with 11 stingers. San Diego Christian has yet to win a GSAC match; they stand at a 5-18 overall, 0-9 GSAC.

Point Loma is now 5-4 in GSAC, 13-4 overall. The Sea Lions will play at Fresno Pacific on Saturday Oct 15 at 3 pm.
